Health Needs Assessment trips to Chongqing and southwestern Yunnan

Two CCOUC teams visited some remote rural villages in Chongqing and southwestern Yunnan in late August 2014 to prepare for further visits and health interventions in the coming year.

The first team conducted health needs assessment in the remote Xikou (溪口) village and Xingguang (星光) village in collaboration with our NGO partner Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation on 14-16 August 2014. Chongqing is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities in China, together with Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.

The second team conducted health needs assessment in six remote Dai ethnic minority villages in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture (西双版纳傣族自治州) on 19-25 August 2014. The prefecture located in the southern border of Yunnan Province adjacent to the Golden Triangle border area of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. CCOUC team also held a meeting with officials from the local Center for Disease Control and Prevention at Jinghong (景洪) City, the prefectural seat to understand the health needs of the area.
