Agreement of Understanding between CCOUC and Public Health Emergency Center at Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC)

Discussion between CCOUC and China CDC in Beijing on Knowledge Transfer Collaboration

Prof. Emily Chan (centre right) met Mr. Zhang Bike (second from right) in Beijing on 25 June 2014.

An Agreement of Understanding (合作意向书) between CCOUC and Public Health Emergency Center at Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) (中国疾病预防控制中心卫生应急中心) was signed on 15 September 2015 to promote collaborations in training, academic publication and research.

This agreement is a result of the meeting between Prof. Emily Chan, Director of CCOUC, and Mr. Zhang Bike (张必科), Deputy Director of the Public Health Emergency Center at Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) in Beijing on 25 June 2014. During the meeting, CCOUC and China CDC have also expressed their common interest in developing a Chinese version of the recently launched English CCOUC online training programme on “Public Health Principles in Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response”. The purpose of this potential collaboration is to promote community disaster resilience in mainland China. A Chinese version of this self-learning course will reduce the language barrier and encourage both the professionals and the general public in the mainland to update their knowledge in public health principles and thereby reduce the adverse health impacts of disaster and humanitarian crises.
