PAHO Webinar: Disaster Risk Reduction in Indigenous Communities in the Americas in the Covid-19 Context

CCOUC Assistant Director Mr Chi Shing Wong joined the Webinar of Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) entitled Disaster Risk Reduction in Indigenous Communities in the Americas in the Covid-19 Context on 23 July 2020.

The Webinar aims to introduce and detail the Indigenous Knowledge and Disaster Risk Reduction Network initiative and its website, and to talk about how COVID-19 is affecting indigenous communities in the American region. The engagement of indigenous peoples in health and disaster risk reduction in the context of COVID-19 was emphasized, as the indigenous population is at high health risk since normal times and the COVID-19 outbreak had an even stronger impact on them due to lack of access to health resources and unmet health needs.
