IRDR Executive Director Qunli Han visited CCOUC

Mr Qunli Han, the Executive Director of Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), visited CCOUC on 8 December 2017 to discuss collaboration in research and training for the network of IRDR.

CCOUC hosts one of the 13 worldwide International Centres of Excellence (ICoEs) of IRDR. CCOUC Director Prof Emily Chan and Assistant Director Ms Gloria Chan introduced the team to Mr Han and gave the newly appointed Executive Director an overview of CCOUC’s recent activities on research, training and community knowledge transfer in the area of disaster and medical humanitarian response. Mr Han was impressed by the range of works that CCOUC is dedicating its efforts on and hoped to see continuous collaboration between the institutes.

IRDR is a decade-long research programme co-sponsored by the International Council for Science (ICSU), the International Social Science Council (ISSC) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). It is a global, multi-disciplinary approach to dealing with the challenges brought about by natural disasters, mitigating their impact and improving related policy-making mechanisms.
