Contributing to World Health Organization Updated Global Guidance on COVID-19 Home Care

On August 12, the World Health Organization updated the global guidance for home care for COVID-19 patients released in mid-March ( CCOUC Director Professor Emily Ying Yang Chan is a key expert in providing input for the update, including the requirements for the household to be suitable for caring for COVID-19 patients in the home. A technical brief and a Lancet paper by the CCOUC team are quoted as key references in this WHO guidance as a benchmark international technical document. This highlights the effort of the CCOUC team in turning evidence into practice. Amidst the new wave of COVID-19 outbreaks in various countries and regions, home care has become an increasingly important response measure to the pandemic, which makes the update of the guidance all the more timely. This updated guidance will also provide a useful reference for implementing home care in future epidemics and will become a key tool for the empowerment of the community in an epidemic.
