Climate Disaster Governance international conference in Singapore

CCOUC member Mr Chi Shing Wong participated in the international Conference on “Climate Disaster Governance” organized by Asia Research Institute (ARI) of National University of Singapore from 21 to 22 September 2017.

This two-day conference of more than 80 interdisciplinary international participants is the finale event of ARI’s “Governing Compound Disasters in Urbanizing Asia” project in the past few years. On behalf of the co-authors, Mr Wong presented a paper entitled “Policy Implication of Health Impacts of Climate Change in Hong Kong”, looking into the conference theme from a health and policy perspective among scholars from disciplines including anthropology, economics, engineering, environmental science, geography, history, hydrology, international relations, law, meteorology, political science, sociology and urban planning.

On the day before the conference, Mr Wong also attended a seminar co-organized by ARI and Routledge to introduce CCOUC and Prof Emily Chan’s new book Public Health Humanitarian Responses to Natural Disasters published by Routledge earlier this year to faculty members and students of NUS.
