CCOUC, as an Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) International Centre of Excellence (ICoE-CCOUC), participated in the Special Session on “Strengthening international collaboration in reducing the health impact of climate change” at the Second Edition of the International Conference on Chemical Weather and Chemical Climate (CWCC 2025) held in Morocco and online on 15 October 2025. The session was organised by CCOUC’s sister unit at Fudan University, IRDR ICoE on Risk Interconnectivity and Governance on Weather/Climate Extremes Impact and Public Health (IRDR-ICoE-RIG-WECEIPHE) to introduce to government and academic partners in Africa the “Climate Change and Health: Call for Actions” advocacy co-initiated by the two IRDR ICoEs in the IRDR 2024 International Conference. The advocacy has been supported by various African counterparts including African Union, Network of African Science Academies, Africa Risk Capacity Group, African Population & Health Research Center, Kenya National Academy of Sciences, Kenya National Action Plan, Kenya Climate Change Working Group.
In this session, CCOUC has introduced its works in climate change and health in various locations in Africa and other continents to potential African partners, while participants in the meeting have discussed possible joint and collaborated activities to be held between China and African countries, including research, teaching and training.
