CCOUC community health outreach to build disaster resilience

CCOUC and Centre for Global Health and their community partners GX Foundation and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Western District Elderly Community Centre conducted a 2021 Hong Kong Community Health Outreach and Facemask Distribution Project cum CCOUC Urban Health-EDRM Fieldwork from 11 to 13 August 2021, involving the participation of CUHK medical students (including GPS students), other CUHK Faculty of Medicine students and alumni, medical students from University of Hong Kong Faculty of Medicine and other volunteers. In addition to providing experiential learning and survey research opportunities to students, there were also community service elements including facemask distribution, medical check-up for older people, and disaster preparedness bag education, which could benefit the health and wellbeing of vulnerable, older populations in Western District of Hong Kong Island, especially in the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic. This constituted CCOUC’s fieldtrip for the year 2020-2021 and CCOUC’s contribution to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of CUHK Faculty of Medicine as part of its Outreach Community Service Programme.
