Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC) and CUHK Centre for Global Health (CGH) invited Ms Homa Zekrya Nader, the Strategic Partnerships and Humanitarian Diplomacy Manager for the Afghanistan Delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), to deliver a seminar entitled “Women to Women Services: Delivering Principled Aid and Understanding the Political Realities in Afghanistan” on 15 February 2025.
The seminar primarily focused on health and economic regeneration programs for Afghan women, highlighting the importance of humanitarian principles and political realities in Afghanistan. It also covered the humanitarian crisis of infectious diseases, water and sanitation inadequacy and food insecurity in the country, which was exacerbated by climate crisis. In view of the sensitivity of the issue upon the withdrawal of humanitarian assistance across the world of the new Trump administration of the United States, instead of a hybrid online and office mode, the seminar was conducted face-to-face only.
